Corporate Seal – Embossing Seal With Your Corporation's Exact Name
A corporate seal in Alberta is optional, and the right time to buy one is when a bank, a land titles form or a counterparty asks for it. Ours is engraved with your corporation's exact legal name, proofed against your Certificate of Incorporation by a trained agent, and shipped within 5–7 business days for $149 + GST.
Product Info
A corporate seal, also sold as a corporate embosser in Canada, is a hand press that raises the corporation's name into paper. It leaves an impression, not an ink mark. Nothing about it is filed with Corporate Registry, so there is no government fee and no registry wait.
Who this is for
- The founder whose bank asked for a sealed banking resolution, or whose minute book binder arrived with a pocket for a seal.
- The owner signing documents for a land transaction, a lease, or a contract with a party outside Canada who expects a seal.
- The owner who wants the full set of supplies in one order: minute book, share certificates and seal, all with the name spelled the same way.
How it works
- Enter the corporation's name exactly as it appears on the Certificate of Incorporation, and choose pocket or desk style. About 5 minutes.
- A trained agent proofs the name against the certificate or a corporate search, including the legal element, punctuation and spacing, and emails you a proof. We call you if anything differs.
- The seal is engraved and shipped within 5–7 business days, with tracking by email.
Is a company seal required in Alberta? Where it still comes up
The Business Corporations Act does not require an Alberta corporation to have or use a seal. The requests come from elsewhere: some banks' account-opening or lending paperwork, some Land Titles forms, and counterparties in countries where sealed documents are the norm. Check the form in front of you; if it has a place marked "seal", order one.
Pocket seal: folds flat, fits in a drawer or a bag, and suits owners who sign documents in more than one place. Desk seal: heavier, with a lever handle, for an office that seals documents often. Both make the same impression; the difference is the handle and the weight. If you are in Calgary and need a seal sooner than the shipping time, call us.
Common mistakes we catch before filing
- "Ltd." engraved when the certificate says "Limited", or "Inc." when it says "Incorporated". The legal element is part of the name.
- A trade name or operating name on the seal instead of the corporation's legal name.
- A numbered company whose digits were transposed.
- An ampersand, accent, apostrophe or comma dropped from the name.
- A seal ordered while a name change is pending, so it is out of date on arrival.
Checklist
What you need before you start
- Your Certificate of Incorporation, or the corporate access number so we can pull the name from a corporate search.
- Your choice of pocket or desk style.
- A shipping address in Canada and a phone number for the courier.
- If your name is about to change, hold the order until the Articles of Amendment are filed.
Requirements in Alberta
- The name on the seal must be the corporation's legal name as registered: a distinctive element, a descriptive element and a legal element (Ltd., Limited, Inc., Incorporated, Corp. or Corporation). A numbered company's name is its number, the word Alberta and the legal element, for example 1234567 Alberta Ltd.
- No Alberta statute requires a corporate seal, and a document is not invalid because it was signed without one.
- Nothing is filed with Corporate Registry when you buy or use a seal.

FAQs
Is a corporate seal required in Alberta?
A seal is not required for an Alberta corporation to sign contracts or pass resolutions. Some banks, some Land Titles forms and parties outside Canada still ask for a sealed document, which is why most owners order one at incorporation or on the day someone asks. If nobody has asked, you do not need one.
What is engraved on the seal?
The exact legal name of your corporation as it appears on your Certificate of Incorporation, including the legal element (Ltd., Inc., Corp. or the full word), around the rim, with Alberta and the year of incorporation in the centre if you choose. We proof the name against the certificate before anything is engraved, because a seal with a misspelled or abbreviated name has to be made again.
How long does shipping take?
Your seal is engraved and shipped within 5–7 business days of your order, with a tracking number emailed to you when it leaves. If you are in Calgary and need it sooner, call us before you order.
