Copies of Business Documents
A certified copy of Alberta corporate documents is a copy retrieved from the Corporate Registry record and certified by the registry as a true copy of what is on file; a plain copy is the same document without the certification. Order either one here for a corporation, a trade name or partnership, or the last annual return, and we email it as a PDF.
Certified Copies of Alberta Corporate Documents Made Simple With ACS
ACS is a private company. We are not a government office or a registry agent. Lost articles, a lender's checklist, a registration in another province, a lawyer closing a sale: they all end with the same request, a copy of what is on file with Corporate Registry.
Give us the corporation or business name (or the corporate access number), choose plain or certified, and our CORES-trained agents retrieve the copy through a licensed Alberta registry agent. Orders received before 3:00 pm MT are emailed the same business day. This page is part of our Alberta corporate records search hub.

Plain or certified?
| Plain copy | Certified copy | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The document as filed, as a PDF | The same document with Corporate Registry's certification that it matches the record |
| Use it for | Your minute book, your accountant, internal records | Banks, lawyers, courts, another province's registry, foreign counterparties |
| Delivery |
Alberta asks every out-of-province corporation registering here for a certified copy of its charter documents; expect the same when your Alberta corporation registers elsewhere, so choose certified whenever the copy is leaving your hands.
Not sure which one?
- If you lost your incorporation documents or never received them, order the certificate and articles.
- If another province's registry, a lender or a lawyer asked for a certified copy of your charter documents, order the certificate and articles, certified.
- If your business is a sole proprietorship, trade name or partnership, order the registration statement copy; it is the copy of a trade name registration in Alberta.
- If your accountant or a buyer wants to see what was last reported about directors and shareholders, order the copy of the last annual return.
- If you need the current record rather than a past filing, order a corporate profile report instead.
- Still unsure? Call (403) XXX-XXXX and a person will tell you which copy fits the request.
FAQs
Do I need a certified copy or a plain copy?
If you are handing the document to someone else, such as a bank, a lawyer, a court or another province's registry, they usually want it certified, and their request normally says so. For your own minute book or your accountant's files, a plain copy is enough.
Can I get copies for a company I don't own?
Documents filed with Alberta Corporate Registry are public records, so copies can be ordered for any Alberta corporation or registered business name, not only your own. You need the exact name or the corporate access number.
How fast are copies delivered?
Copies are emailed as PDFs, the same business day for orders received before 3:00 pm MT. Our CORES-trained agents retrieve them through a licensed Alberta registry agent, so there is no registry visit.
