Name Reports for Other Provinces
A NUANS report for other provinces reserves a corporate name outside Alberta, and you can order it from the same account you use for your Alberta filings. Federal incorporations and Ontario use NUANS, as Alberta does; some provinces run their own name request systems instead.
Name Reports for Other Provinces Made Simple With ACS
ACS is a private company. We are not a government office or a registry agent. This site prepares and files Alberta registrations. For a name outside Alberta, we order the report; for the registration itself in another province or federally, our partner site, CRS — Corporate Registry Services, handles the filing.
Tell us the proposed name, the jurisdiction and what the business does. Our agents check the name's three parts (distinctive, descriptive and legal element) before the search runs, and the report is emailed to you. This page is part of our business support and supplies hub.
Which jurisdictions use NUANS?
| Jurisdiction | Name report | What to order |
|---|---|---|
| Alberta | Alberta NUANS report; reserves the name for 90 days and must be less than 91 days old when filed | Alberta NUANS report |
| Federal (Corporations Canada) | Federal NUANS report | NUANS report below |
| Ontario | Ontario NUANS report | NUANS report below |
| British Columbia | A name search in BC runs through BC's own name request system, not NUANS | Call us |
| Other provinces and territories | Varies by province | Call us |
One point is settled on the Alberta side: a federal (CBCA) corporation that later registers in Alberta needs no Alberta NUANS report for that registration.

Registering outside Alberta
The name report is step one. The registration itself is filed with that jurisdiction's registry, and our partner site files federal incorporations and registrations in other provinces: CRS — Corporate Registry Services.
If the move is the other way, a corporation from another province or country registering in Alberta, start at our extra-provincial registration hub. That registration needs an Alberta NUANS report less than 91 days old, except for federal corporations, and British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba corporations use the NWPTA online route at no government fee.
Not sure which one?
- If you are incorporating in Alberta, you need an Alberta NUANS report, not this page.

- If your province runs its own name request system, call us and we will point you to the right search.
- If your company already exists elsewhere and is coming to Alberta, see extra-provincial registration.
- If you need the registration filed outside Alberta, go to CRS — Corporate Registry Services.

FAQs
Can I use an Alberta NUANS report to incorporate federally or in Ontario?
No. Each NUANS jurisdiction needs its own report, searched against its own database. Order the report for the jurisdiction you are incorporating in, and use an Alberta NUANS report only for Alberta filings.
Does ACS file incorporations outside Alberta?
This site prepares and files Alberta registrations only. For a federal incorporation or a registration in another province, our partner site, CRS — Corporate Registry Services, handles the filing, and you can order the name report here first.
How long is a NUANS report valid?
An Alberta NUANS report reserves the name for 90 days and must be less than 91 days old when filed. Federal and Ontario reports have their own reservation periods.
